Why maps and collectibles?

There are many reasons why people are interested in maps and collectibles. Certainly the past has shaped the present as well as the future. Being able to identify the physical items left from the past might help one to reflect on their childhood memories or perhaps where their descendants originated that captures our imagination. Even landmark maps can create the images of what was geographically accepted hundreds of years ago compared  to what is accurate today and simply sometimes it is just the artistry or craftsmanship of the past.  Additionally,  I do love the artistry and history of maps and antiquities but what is most intriguing to me is;  what was, what is , and what is going to be geographically and materially in our future.  As it is, the items on this website represent a place in time as we are to history itself.
